Happy Saturday! Where the heck did this week go? I had every intention to start my holiday gift giving projects series on Thursday, but due to power outage and lack of time, I didn't post the first item. So in order to stay on target with all the many projects I want to share with you for this series, I'm moving it to Saturdays.
With each project I'm also going to offer some blog candy, all details for the blog candy will be below the tutorials for each project. For now welcome to the first project of my Seasonal Saturdays gift giving series: Beanie Gift Card Holder. The inspiration for this holder came from my nephew and niece. The other day Gaven decided to play peek-a-boo with his beanie and it cracked up Victoria so he kept doing it. As he was doing that, this template popped into my head.
Here's a photo of the beanie closed.
Here's a photo of the beanie open, revealing the gift card.
Ready to make one of your own? Here are the step-by-step directions and hope to have a video tutorial of it tomorrow along with more samples.
Materials:
- 1 - 5" Circle (I used Baja Breeze)
- 1 - 5-1/8" x 1-1/2" Strip of card stock (I used White card stock)
- Ribbon (I used 5/8" Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon)
- Embellishments of your choice
- Eyelet
- Circle Cutter (I used EK Success Circle Scissors Plus)
- Scallop Edge Punch
- Crop-a-Dile
- Double-Sided Tape
Step 1: Cut out 1 circle measuring about 5" in diameter. I used the Circle Scissors Plus by EK Success but feel free to use what you have even a bowl from your kitchen...anything that will enable you to cut out a circle about 5" in diameter.
Step 2: Stamp or add texture to your circle and then cut it in half. For my sample, I left it plain and just cut it in half.
Step 3: I used Scallop Edge punch along one of the long sides of the strip of white card stock.
Step 4: To one of the semi-circle I added a strip of double-stick tape along the flat edge and adhered it to the bottom of the white strip of card stock, just above the scallop edge.
Step 5:I then inserted the other semi-circle in between the white strip and semi-circle. I slipped the Crop-a-Dile in the middle making sure to only punch through the strip and the loose semi-circle.
Step 6:I added an eyelet to the recently punched hole and set it with the Crop-a-Dile.
Step 7: I adhered a strip of ribbon and bow, which by the way is a sneak peek into my next ribbon treatment tutorial which will be posted soon.
Step 8:Using the Medium Topper Punch, I punched out a piece out of red card stock and folded it into pom-pom to use for the top of the beanie. I punched a hole and attached with a white brad.
Step 9: To finish it off I tuck a gift card inside.
